Toyota is well-known for building vehicles that survive the test of time. Their vehicles, on average, last significantly longer than those of many of their key competitors.

Furthermore, most Toyota customers indicate that their vehicles require very little maintenance beyond routine maintenance.

The Toyota Supra is one of their most well-known and revered vehicles. This was, after all, Toyota’s showcase automobile in the 1990s.

The 1998 Toyota Supra, on the other hand, is the model that stands out the most in the minds of automotive aficionados all around the world.

The 1998 Toyota is still one of the most sought-after used cars from the 1990s, and those who are fortunate enough to get their hands on one usually pay a high price.

The Price

Toyotas have a reputation for holding their value for years, if not decades after they are purchased.

The Toyota Supra, on the other hand, is an example of a car that is worth more today than when it was first produced.

This price increase can be attributed to a number of factors, the most important of which being supply and demand.

A simple Google search for “1998 Toyota Supras for sale” will demonstrate exactly what we’re talking about.

Everyone appears to desire one, but they are exceedingly hard to come by. Over the last few years, this has driven up the price of an already premium car.

The 1998 Toyota Supra’s original MSRP ranged from $31,000 to just over $40,000. Whether you wanted the ordinary automatic, the sport roof automatic, the sport roof turbo automatic, or the sport roof turbo manual, the price difference was dependent on that.

The cheapest 1998 Toyota Supra we could find now costs nearly twice as much as it did when it was new. When inflation is taken into account, however, the price becomes more reasonable.

The price of a used car, like any other, will be determined by factors such as mileage and the amount of money put in the vehicle.

If you want to buy this now-classic Toyota, you can expect to pay anything from $65,000 and a little more than $100,000.

This may seem like a lot of money for a car that has been around for almost two decades, but the 1998 Supra is definitely worth it, and we’ll explain why later.

The 1998 Toyota Supra Essentials

The Toyota Supra was in its fourth generation when this model was released in 1998. The motors employed in these cars, both then and now, are one of the elements that made them so essential.

The 2JZ-GTE engine that came standard on the 1998 Toyota Supra is still the industry standard for auto racing and regular hobbyists wishing to undertake an engine swap today.

It was the combination of this over-engineered engine and the six-speed Getrag gearbox that made the 4th generation Supras such standouts on the road and in the world of fast vehicles in general.

The 1998 Toyota’s general specifications are very impressive. You can choose between a 6-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission with up to 321 horsepower.

It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 177 miles per hour. If you are outside of Japan, however, this speed is regulated at 155.

The Way To Go

It’s not for no cause that this is referred to as the car that defined a decade. Almost every sportscar, in one way or another, has drawn inspiration from the Supra’s past, but largely in terms of what’s under the hood.

It’s difficult to come by a 1998 Toyota Supra, and you’d have to pay a lot of money to get one.

In exchange for the cost, you’d get a sleek car that can outrun several of today’s fastest cars. If you have an opportunity to drive this genuinely famous ride, consider yourself lucky.

The Done of a New Era

The Toyota Supra has been reintroduced to the market. In January 2019, during the North American International Auto Show, the 5th generation was unveiled for the first time.

Toyota and BMW collaborated on this current generation, which is based on the Z4. The first production model was sold at auction for $2.1 million, with all proceeds going to the American Heart Association and the Bob Woodruff Foundation.

In May of that year, the new Supra was released in Japan, followed by a July release in the United States. In the fall of that year, the automobile was released in Australia.
