Porsche 911 GT2 RS VS. Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series: Which Would you Rather Prefer


The last several years have seen Porsche and Mercedes-AMG compete to create the best all-around sports car to fly across the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

With the likes of the GTR Pro, GTS, and now the ultimate iteration of the GT Black Series, which just took the top place as the fastest production car on the track, the AMG team has had its share of success with the iconic AMG GT platform.

Porsche has been working homologating the Manthey Performance Package for its GT2 RS variation, which has surpassed the GT Black Series’ time, to match this success.

The Performance

The sole difference between these automobiles’ engines is two cylinders and 0.2 liters of displacement.

Both are twin-turbo and built-in Stuttgart. The famed twin-turbo 4.0 liter AMG V8 features a flat-plane crank that sends power to the rear wheels via a 7-speed AMG dual-clutch transmission dubbed “Speedshift.”

The Porsche 911 is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine. The gearbox is a snappy and well-developed PDK, a dual-clutch system designed for the Porsche 918 Spyder hypercar.

The AMG has an all-new ride-control suspension with 3-stage adjustable damping and race-ready tuning in the most extreme settings, as well as specific route and driver vehicle height settings.

This will also prevent the carbon fiber splitter from scraping against public roads. The GT2 RS features a track-ready suspension system developed in conjunction with the Manthey racing package, which makes cornering a breeze.

Let’s start with the Porsche GT2 RS, which is one of the best cars ever produced by Porsche. Under your right foot, you have 700 HP available. A powerful 553 lb-ft of torque is also available.

The 911 is exceptionally light, weighing only 3,240 pounds. Porsche made it a priority during the construction of this automobile to keep the weight as low as possible in order to capture the race car feel.

The AMG produces 720 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to accelerate from a standstill to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds.

The AMG, on the other hand, is a little heavier, weighing in at 3584 pounds. This is most likely owing to a longer wheelbase and less interior stripping.

Interiors and Price

Smooth leather and a sportier heads-up display and infotainment system than the basic versions greet you inside the AMG GT Black Series.

Recaro bucket seats developed exclusively for AMG are also available in the interior.

This compartment is also completely covered in Alcantara to give it a luxurious racing vibe.

In this regard, the GT2 RS is comparable. There will be Alcantara and carbon fiber, as well as a set of the greatest bucket seats currently available.

With glimpses of exposed carbon fiber and contrast emblems and stitching, it’s easy to see why Porsche likes these seats.

The AMG GT Black Series is $335,000, while the GT2 RS is $293,000. Although, because the GT2 RS has been on the market for a while, you may be able to get one for a lower price, which is a significant benefit over the restricted AMG, which has only recently begun to be delivered.

What’s your Preference

The GT2 RS is a better track tool for the green hell in general. This car’s balance has been honed by Porsche, and it’s the most likely to make you smile.

Despite an all-new AMG performance exhaust system, the new AMG GT Black Series has a muted exhaust sound due to new rules.

They compensate by pumping synthetic engine sound through the speakers, which purists haven’t taken well.

The GT Black won the ring with a time of 6:47, dethroning the GT2. After a Manthey makeover, the Porsche was back to its former glory, clocking in at 6:43.

Despite its incredible performance and handling characteristics, the AMG GT Black isn’t quite worth the extra $42,000.

The looks, on the other hand, are stunning and possibly more appealing than its Porsche opponent.

If you want to circuit the Nürburgring swiftly and in style, the AMG is the car for you; if you want to lap it even faster but with less style, the Porsche is the car for you.
